Thermal analysis testing of polymers is important forunderstanding the changes in polymer properties as a function of temperature,and to also determine the thermal transition points which can assist inmaterial selection for an application, assist in understanding polymerperformance in service, or assist in polymer failure investigations.

Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC analysis ofpolymers) is an important tool which determines parameters such as polymer glasstransition temperatures, melting temperature, crystallization temperature,enthalpy, degree of crystallinity, extent of curing, onset of oxidation (bytime and temperature) and thermal history effects.

Thermal Gravimetric Analysis (TGA analysis of polymers)is another important technique that provides a measurement of mass loss as afunction of temperature, and can determine parameters such as onsetdecomposition temperature, peak decomposition temperature, breakdown proportionof oils, polymer, carbon black, ash residue components.

Thermal Mechanical Analysis (TMA analysis of polymers)is an analysis technique which measures the dimensional changes of a sample asa function of time/temperature/force, crucial for determining the coefficientof linear thermal expansion (CTE) and glass transition temperatures.
